Free Online College Degree - Tuition Free School

University of the People is a tuition-free college.

The University is a not for profit institution that does not charge students to take classes. Readings and course materials are available online, free of charge for each and every registered student. In the future, University of the People may require that students pay modest fees for application and assessment processing. These fejavascript:void(0)es will be based on the standard of living in the student’s country or place of residence.

Harnessing the power of the web, University of the People is the first among tuition free universities. Determined to change the global mindset on higher education delivery, UoPeople and hopefully other tuition free universities will evolve traditional academic methods of learning and turn to the internet to bring university programs within reach of the majority rather than keeping it in the hands of the minority – irrespective of financial, geographical or social constraints.
Supporting under-served populations, the concept of tuition free universities were created to provide access to structured, degree-level programs in Business Administration and Computer Science. UoPeople accepts any applicant who has graduated from high school, has access to a computer and Internet and has sufficient English skills to complete the English-only courses.

Inessa Volkonidina had taken precalculus once and dropped it. She needed to take it again, and quickly, to fulfill a graduation requirement at Long Island University. She went online and found a company with an odd name, StraighterLine, that offered the course on even odder terms: $99 a month.

She thought it might be a scam. But StraighterLine, based in Alexandria, is a serious education company and a force that could disrupt half a millennium of higher-education tradition. The site offers students as many general-education courses as they care to take for a flat monthly fee, plus $39 per course. As college tuitions go, it is more on the scale of a cable bill.

ACR Start online degree program online

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has launched an online nuclear medicine and PET accreditation application program to potentially reduce the time for facilities to become accredited.

The nuclear medicine and PET accreditation programs allows providers to apply online via the new “ACRedit” system, said the ACR. In addition, ACR said its new program does not require a fee to access the application or an annual fee.

Effective Jan. 1, 2012, all providers who bill for PET, MRI, CT and nuclear medicine under part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule must be accredited to receive technical component reimbursement from Medicare, according to the college.

By Rebecca Kern
Posted February 3, 2010

For many parents who split their time between 40-hour workweeks and taking care of their kids, the idea of continuing their education seems almost impossible. An online learning site called eLearners.com has helped parents overcome the three main barriers to returning to school: time, money, and lack of confidence, says Helen MacDermott, content director for eLearners.com. The site launched Project Working Mom 2010, a program created to award up to 285 full-tuition scholarships from eight accredited online institutions worth about $5 million in total to working mothers and fathers. Project Working Mom 2010 is the fourth in a series of programs run by eLearners.com to "tackle the crisis of the undereducated adult population in America."
